Intel Core i5 Lynnfield Details Emerge Windows 7 Ready

Specifically designed as an affordable alternative to Intel's latest CPU
architecture (the powerful Core i7), the new Nehalem-based Core i5
CPUs– codenamed Lynnfield, are expected to upgrade the new
processor lineup sometime in mid September. Using the 45nm technology,
available in quad-core and dual-core versions, and just in time for
Windows 7, rumors have it that the Core i5 processors will be optimized
and will run great on the new OS.
First leaked in April, the new Core i5 CPUs are supposed to clock at
2.66GHz, 2.80GHz and 2.93GHz, and should be priced at $196, $284 and
$562, respectively (for thousand-unit tray quantities). But if that's
too spicy, there's also an entry-level Havendale processor that will be
introduced in January next year.

Since Intel didn't bother to confirm any of these, we'll have to wait
before we know more about the new Core i5 processors.
