Google’s Chrome OS Available Already Why We Do Need Chrome OS in Our Lives

Google s Chrome OS has just become official and while we won t see any
dedicated machines capable to run it accordingly for about a year that
doesn t mean we can t already use it.That s right, you heard me right,
Chrome OS is already available and it can be run on your machine right
now. Sure it might lack a lot of drivers which means you won t be able
to enjoy it to the fulles
t yet but that s something you should accept for now.
So why do we need Chrome OS in our lives you ask? We have Windows Mobile
7 which is a pretty dependable OS and then there s always Mac OS X
available to satisfy our out of the box needs. The answer is pretty
simple and it lies in the cloud. That s what we really need to increase
our productivity.
A cloud that s maintained and updated by Google, not Microsoft or
Danger, is exactly the thing missing from our professional life at
least. Imagine not having to carry around your portable hard drives.
Imagine not having to backup all your precious data every day. Imagine
not having to worry about having your laptop stolen or spilling coffee
over it. Wouldn t you be able to work a lot easier knowing that all your
data is safely stored in the cloud?
Let them steal your laptop! Don t be afraid to damage your machine! Use
those portable hard drives to store music and movies that you can play
later at home!
Sure the Chrome OS will not let you play games like Modern Warfare 2 and
you might not like knowing the fact that your data is all stored in a
cloud which could be accessed by others once they find out your user
name and password. But Chrome OS is something that professionals could
really use while on the go but also from home or your office.

AT&T Ad Campaign Takes on Verizon Doesn't Do Much Against Big Red, Brags About EDGE?

Remember those Verizon ads mocking AT T's 3G coverage and Apple's
iPhone? Well it looks like AT T is not sitting back accepting all these
things, they have sued Big Red and have started a campaign against the
CDMA carrier by bragging about their EDGE capabilities stating that
With both 3G and EDGE coverage, customers can access the Internet, send
e-mail, surf the Web, stream music, download videos, send photos, text,
talk and more. The only difference " with some data applications, 3G is
faster than EDGE.
The bad thing however is that more and more iPhone users have complained
that even though AT T reaches 303 million people or 97% of the U.S.
population, it has become a habit for 3G to drop to EDGE or even GPRS
somewhere in New York, Chicago and San Francisco — proving how
reliable AT T's network is.
As the U.S. market leader in wireless data service, we typically don't
respond to competitors' advertising. However, some recent ads from
Verizon are so blatantly false and misleading, that we want to set the
record straight about AT T's wireless data coverage.
On top of these all, AT T also wants to make sure you know that unlike
Verizon, they offer the most popular smartphones in the industry. How

Windows Marketplace Opens Doors to Ancient Phones Support for Windows Mobile 6 6.1 Now Available

If you re one of those people not ditching their Windows Mobile 6 or 6.1
smartphones unless Microsoft launches Windows 7 then you re about to get
excited again about your old handset. Microsoft has officially announced
that the Marketplace has now support for Windows Mobile 6 and 6.1 devices.
Just earlier last week Microsoft announced a PC version of Marketplace
and now they re ready to move forward. The mobile store will be
accessible to older Windows Mobile phones. Windows Mobile 6.5 is far
from perfect and not all Windows Mobile lovers will try it. And with
�30 million devices worldwide �, Microsoft should definitely open the
Marketplace s doors to everyone.
Those of you that have a Windows Mobile 6 or 6.1 phone can simply point
their browser to http://mp.windowsphone.com and download everything
needed in order to make the app store work. Additionally you could run
everything on your PC while customizing the Marketplace for your Windows
Mobile 6 or 6.1 handset.
According to Microsoft s blog, there are over 800 apps available in the
Marketplace and there are over 1,000 more software developers registered
with the store. Those numbers are incomparable to Apple s App Store but
the Marketplace is definitely growing. And with so many Windows Mobile
users out there, making the store available to older OS versions seems
like the smart thing to do. The only problem that I foresee is that
developers will rather create new apps for Windows Mobile 6.5 phones and
other platforms instead of focusing on previous versions. On the other
hand all the existing Windows Mobile 6 and 6.1 apps could be ported to
the Marketplace, but is there any real value in pursuing such endeavors?
The official blog post ends with a very positive message. The
Marketplace will grow and it will offer us even more hot features. What
it doesn t say is that Windows Mobile is losing ground to Android right
now, but then again, I might be exaggerating everything just a little bit.

Google Earth iPhone App Updated Updated Google Earth App Offers Custom Maps, Improved Performance, Enhanced Multi-Language Support

Google have announced that they have released an updated version of
their Google Earth iPhone App " which initially became available just
over a year ago – which offers a host of additional features as
well as boasting improved performance and enhanced icon selection
functionality.
The second iteration of the Google Earth iPhone App, which,
incidentally, is also compatible with the iPod Touch, now comes with a
greater number of supported languages (31 languages are now supported,
up from the previously supported 18), and as well as offering the
aforementioned performance enhancements also supports custom maps
created either by you or other users with the My Maps interface. This
feature is, of course, particularly handy if you want to save a route
you ve taken should you wish to re-visit a certain location and is also
especially useful should you wish to share routes or locations with
friends and family.
Along with the above enhancements you can also factor in improved icon
selection which, according to Google, means that �when you touch an
icon, a small glow appears under your finger to let you know which icon
you have picked. �
The new version of the Google Earth iPhone App is available to download
as of now via Apple s App Store and, just like with the first iteration,
it won t cost you a single dime.

Adobe Flash Player 10.1 Pre-Release Candidate Now Available Flash 10.1 Beta for Windows, Macs & Linux Released

Adobe have announced the immediate availability of the latest iteration
of their Flash Player for Windows, Mac and Linux operating systems in
the form of the Adobe Flash Player 10.1 Beta.
The latest version of Adobe s Flash Player, which is being offered for
download now in pre-release format, is a pre-cursor to the full release
candidate being made available in the first half of 2010 and is being
offered up as �an opportunity for developers to test and provide early
feedback to Adobe on new features, enhancements, and compatibility with
previously authored content.
�Consumers can try the beta release of Flash Player 10.1 to preview
hardware acceleration of video on supported Windows PCs and x86-based
netbooks, ย says Adobe. �You can also help make Flash Player better by
visiting all of your favorite sites, making sure they work the same or
better than with the current player. We definitely want your feedback to
help improve the final version, expected to ship in the first half of 2010.

Windows Mobile 7 Gets Confirmed by Microsoft Official Announcement Expected for March 2010

As much as some Windows Mobile lovers will defend their Windows Mobile
6.5 handsets I imagine they re waiting for the real thing just as much
as the rest of us. Windows Mobile 7 is everyone s fantasy, including
Microsoft. Redmond has admitted in the past that it would have liked to
have Windows Mobile 7 out sooner but that wasn t possible.
I am not saying I ll go for a Windows Mobile 7 phone the moment they
become available but I certainly am more interested in the next mobile
OS from Microsoft. And I dare to say that Microsoft s future OS version
will be a spectacular one. Redmond can t afford not to have a winner
mobile platform. Android is more and more popular, iPhones and
BlackBerry handsets are dominating the smartphone business and even
Samsung is cooking its own mobile OS. Let s not forget that other major
players like Nokia and Palm are fixing and tweaking their operating
systems so with all that in mind I ll say it again: Windows Mobile 7 has
to be spectacular.
The new Windows Mobile version is supposed to arrive at the MIX 2010
conference net March but we expect to hear more about the new OS early
next year. The launch date has been confirmed by Microsoft Office Vice
President Kurt Delbene, which is a little strange. You d normally expect
a guy like Steve Ballmer to make such an announcement.
What s even more interesting is that Microsoft has posted a shot of the
Windows Mobile new interface on the Office 2010 beta site and the
pictures look similar with what we ve seen around the Internet earlier
this year.
Did Microsoft let everything slip out by mistake or was this a well
coordinated �attack �? As much as I do believe that Microsoft happens
to make various mistakes, like Windows Vista for example, I think that
this confirmation has been intentionally made. There s too much talk
about Android and other mobile OS these days and Windows Mobile is
barely noticeable despite s Microsoft s efforts to build buzz around it
and around the recently tuned Marketplace. Did it work? Well everyone
will be talking about Windows Mobile 7 today, won t they?
So, Microsoft, we expect to be dazzled, so make sure that your Windows
Mobile 7 OS is spectacular!

Microsoft Office 2010 Beta Now Available Office 2010 Beta Up For Grabs for Technet and MSDN Subscribers from Today

If you ve been aching to get your hands on the latest iteration of what
is the most selling software title of all time, namely the latest
instalment in the Microsoft Office " namely Microsoft Office 2010 "
and you happen to be either a Technet or a MSDN subscriber then you ll
doubtless be pleased to know that you can get you hands on the Microsoft
Office Beta as of today.
Along with sporting all the usual suspects " Word, Excel, Outlook and

Microsoft Denies NSA Backdoor in Windows 7 No Exploits Deliberately Coded in Win 7, Privacy Ensured

Richard Schaeffer is the NSA official who said before the Senate's
Subcommittee on Terrorism and Homeland Security that the National
Security Agency has been working closely with Microsoft to enhance
Windows 7's security guide, igniting fear that the software giant has
deliberately coded a backdoor into the newly announced operating system.
But given Microsoft's announcement today, it's all speculation, as they
have not and will not put 'backdoors' into Windows .
Apparently, the big issue is that the NSA had somethign to do with the
creation of Windows, as Marc Rotenberg, the executive director of the
Electronics Privacy Information Center (EPIC), has pointed out that the
NSA has a dual mission, COMPUSEC, computer security, now called cyber
security, and SIGINT, signals intelligence, in other words surveillance.
More to it, considering that the US government is one of the most
important customers for Redmond and given the bad economy, some would be
tempted to believe that Microsoft has given in and granted NSA's wishes.
But there's the other side of the story. Knowing that their software has
privacy issues, more and more customers (including businesses) would be
tempted to let go — which would lead to a much bigger issues.

3D Scanning Without A 3D Scanner Cambridge Develops Software to Create 3D Models with Regular Webcam

Qi Pan, a PhD engineering candidate at Cambridge University has
developed software that allows users to create a fully 3D digital model
with a regular, stationary webcam. No need for multiple cameras or 3D
imaging lasers, as the software is able to render the model by simply
having the model rotated in front of the webcam by hand.
The technology is called ProFORMA (obviously named by an engineer) and
the secret to it, is that it renders the 3d model as the real life model
is being collected. It seems to be highly accurate and what impresses me
is that it even accurately captures the textures of the item being
modeled into 3D.
The principal isn't that much different thanย motionย capture which
hasย helpedย create realistic human motions in CGI movies and video
games for some time, but unlike mo-cap, the target doesn't have to be
covered in small light-sensitiveย balls that help the computer and
multiple cameras track the motion.
And what is equally impressive is that instead of the expensive
motion-capture equipment (which can cost over $6,000 for a single
motion-capture equipped glove, which doesn't include the cost of the
cameras of drivers), this is done with a single, off-the-shelf webcam,
and, like I said earlier, also captures the textures.
The possible applications of this tech is pretty limitless at this
point. This could seriously change the cost and effort needed for 3D

HTC Dragon Android Smartphone Surfaces HTC Dragon Loses Cover in Firmware Build, Features 1GHz CPU

Rumors have it that the good folks from HTC are working on a new Android
smartphone to add to their current lineup. Dubbed HTC Dragon, the new
handset has leaked in a recent firmware upgrade. Probably meant as the
company's flagship model, word is that the Dragon will be running on a
Qualcomm 1GHz processor which will make the Sense user interface run
smoother than never — although we're not sure how it will affect
battery life, to be honest!
Other than being ultra-fast, the new HTC Dragon is also expected to
feature a rather large capacitive touch screen display that manages to
boast an impressive 800 x 600 screen resolution. On top of that, the
leaked screenshots have led us thinking that HTC's new Dragon smartphone
is probably going to be available with a TV channel, meaning that a
Sprint or Verizon debut, sometime shortly, may be a real thing.
No official release from HTC as of now, but it sure looks like things
are becoming interestingly in the Android smartphone niche. Don't you think?

Google Chrome OS Available Next Week? Google Chrome OS Google Chrome Beta for Mac Rumored to be Arrive Soon

It s no secret anymore that Google intends to become a major player in
computer OS business too. And Google is already working on an operating
system which was said to be ready by next year. Recent rumors suggest
that the Chrome OS is going to arrive a lot sooner than we think. In
fact the new OS is apparently going to be available for download in
about a week which sounds pretty interesting to say the least.
While it was fairly easy for Google to enter the mobile business with
its Android OS and establish a name for itself in this domain too,
conquering the computer business seems a lot harder. Microsoft and Apple
are dominating that environment and they will surely not want to let
anyone else cash in on our computer needs. Microsoft in particular
should feel threatened by Google s OS but the Redmond giant will surely
not lose the impressive market share it currently owns especially with
its new Windows 7 out in the open.
Don t expect computer manufacturers to embrace Chrome OS all of a
sudden! The first machines capable of running it are probably going to
be netbooks and nettops, and it will take a while until Chrome OS
becomes compatible with most computers out there. Google is working
with Acer, Adobe, Asus, Freescale, Hewlet-Packard, Lenovo, Qualcomm,
Texas Instruments and Toshiba for now but probably more manufacturers
will join once Chrome OS will prove itself.
Since we re talking about Google Chrome OS we also have to tell you that
a beta version of Google Chrome for Mac is rumored to be made available
in the following weeks. The beta is expected to arrive in early December
although Google will not comment on any actual dates.
In any case, the following weeks might bring us two important products
from Google, the Chrome OS and the Google Chrome beta for Mac. While the
OS is not something we desperately crave, the Chrome browser is
something various Mac users are thrilled about trying on their computers.

Windows 7 Won't Support ARM Processors Anytime Soon Microsoft Still Plays Ball with Intel, Forgets About ARM CPUs

Although many manufacturers are expected to release ARM-based smartbooks
next year, it looks like Microsoft doesn't care and won't bring ARM
processor support for their latest OS, the new Windows 7. More to it,
through the company's corporate VP for Windows Platform Strategy,
Microsoft has announced today that they're going to continue their close
cooperation with Intel and that manufacturers should shift their
attention to Windows CE which supports ARM.
And although some market watchers think that vendors of netbooks may
consider adopting less expensive operating systems, the market response
has shown that an increasing number of netbook users are willing to pay
more for using Windows 7, Nash said in an interview with Digitimes, today.
What's interesting is that ARM processors are already used extensively
in consumer electronics, and that includes PDAs, mobile phones, digital
media, music players, and many more other, but still not getting any
Microsoft love right now, which could be because the company is more
focused on desktop computers, laptops and netbooks as their main market.
Looks like smartbooks are now supposedly going to run either Android or
maybe some other Linux-based OS. Which is not that bad!

Yesterday, someone with a good eye has managed to snap some changes in
Apple's iTunes terms and conditions to find out that the Apple TV 3.0
software update is not that far away. Although they got it out as soon
as it leaked all over the Internet, Apple took some time off from making
the iPhone and the iMacs better, and made the official announcement
— Apple TV 3.0 has arrived.
The new Apple TV 3.0 software brings a redesigned main menu for simpler
and faster navigation through your favorite content, delivers iTunes
Extras and iTunes LP in stunning fullscreen and allows you to listen to
Genius Mixes (up to 12, generated from your iTunes library) and Internet
radio through your home theater system.
On top of that the press release states that there's now access to 8,000
Hollywood films on iTunes (more than 2,000 of them in HD quality)
available for rent or purchase, 11 million songs, 10,000 music videos
and over 50,000 TV episodes, all purchasable from your Apple TV, or you
can have fun with those 175,000 videos and audio podcasts Apple gave
away for free.
Apple TV 3.0 won't cost you a dime if you're already an user, otherwise
if you want any of the goodies above you'll need to spare $229 for the
160GB version.
The new Apple TV software is available immediately free of charge to
existing Apple TV owners, and Apple TV with 160GB capacity is available
for just $229.

If you were wondering what's Apple cooking other than the new Apple TV

Sprint Reveals 2010 Smartphone Lineup Android, BlackBerry, Windows Mobile, WiMAX Phones Mentioned; App Store in the Works

Hang on to your shorts, Sprint customers! The carrier is ready to dazzle
you with its 2010 lineup and plans. Sprint has posted another subscriber
loss, this time for Q3 2009, and it will surely want to start stealing
subscribers from the other three main competitors in 2010.

Sprint has had a bad 2008 and it looks like the number 3 carrier in the
U.S. is slowly recovering. Its current lineup includes a few hot phones
already but more are to follow next year. Right now Sprint has the Palm
Pre and the Pixi, the HTC Hero, various Samsung Instinct phones and
quite a few BlackBerry smartphones to offer.

So what can we expect from Sprint next year? Windows Mobile 6.5 phones
are currently being tested and you can expect the HTC Touch Pro2 from
and other models to arrive in 2010. Sprint will also embrace Windows
Mobile 7 as soon as it arrives but until then Windows Mobile lovers will
only have version 6.5 to play with.

Sprint intends to launch plenty of Android and BlackBerry phones next
year although we don t have any names yet. Future BlackBerry handsets
will all come with Wi-Fi enabled while Android phones will come most
likely from HTC. Current Android smartphones, the HTC Hero and the
Samsung Moment, will be updated to Android 2.0 and the most interesting
future Android phone will be a GSM/CDMA hybrid.

Sprint is also preparing for 4G and while it s busy deploying its
network, the carrier is also testing WiMAX phones. At least one such
phone will be available next year but we don t know yet who is going to
make it.

Sprint s current Store will disappear in favor of a new App Store. Once
Sprint s future App Store is in place the carrier will not ship any
smartphone with pre-installed apps. Instead customers will be able to
choose what apps to download and what to ignore.

Unfortunately we also had some bad news for you earlier today. It looks
like Sprint will not support tethering anymore and I predict that this
will be a major concern among its subscribers. Better go get your mob
ready and go trick-or-treating Sprint s customer service.

We don t have any specific details regarding what we have just told you
but we will be back once Sprint clarifies everything. After all, 2010 is
just around the corner!

Google to Launch Google Audio Music Store on October 28? Google to Work with iLike and Lala on New Google Audio Music Service

Do we need a new music service? Don t we have enough solutions to
satisfy our needs? Google apparently thinks that it absolutely has to go
into the music business too. That s why the company will launch a new
service, Google Audio, which should be available on October 28.

Google is working with iLike and Lala in order to deliver the new music
service. The official release is scheduled for next Wednesday during a
Hollywood event hosted by Lala and iLike called �Discover Music! �.
Besides iLike and Lala there are �others � hosting it too. That s
right, you guessed it, Google seems to be one of those lucky others.

There are no precise details about Google Audio at this point as it
looks like the new service has been kept secret quite successfully.
Rumors say that Google Audio will let you search for your favorite songs
and then stream them directly from Google. That s where iLike and Lala
will play their role apparently. Google will offer additional
information concerning music queries which means you re probably going
to get a lot of extra stuff about your favorite songs and bands. And

has been acquired by MySpace and it used to offer limited streaming
services. It has some full streaming support and it offers 30 second
clips. We expect MySpace Music to play an important part in this venture
particularly because it has full streaming rights from the four major
music labels. Lala will also stream music to you. The company lets you
stream a song once and then you have to pay to get the same song again.

Family Guy to Sell Windows 7 for Microsoft Microsoft to Advertise Windows 7 in Sponsored Family Guy Episode

We have shown you these days a lot of computers capable of running
Windows 7. Every manufacturer out there is eager to start selling
Windows 7 machines and forget about Vista and XP. But will Microsoft s
marketing department be able to rise to everyone s expectations and
think out of the box when it comes to promoting Windows 7?

How many iPhones and MacBooks have you seen featured lately in TV shows?
You ve seen quite a few, didn t you? How many TV shows featured
Windows 7 or previous versions of Microsoft s OS? Not that many, right?
Well maybe Microsoft has finally realized that it needs to be more
present in our lives, at least when it comes to TV shows. Redmond has
reached a deal with Fox regarding Windows 7 advertising. Microsoft will
sponsor a commercial free TV show in which the cast from Family Guy will
constantly talk about Windows 7.

�Family Guy Presents: Seth Alex s Almost Live Comedy Show will air
on Sunday, November 8 at 8:30 PM (ET PT) and with Seth MacFarlane and
Alex Borstein on board we will probably see a lot of jokes and gags
based on Windows 7. After all, the story will have plenty of Windows 7
in it and it will not be interrupted by any commercials.

Microsoft must have paid quite a lot for the show although the financial
details haven t been made public yet. Microsoft and Fox also plan to
roll-out a 12-week college tour in which students will be invited to try
Windows 7 while Stewie and Brian will host outdoor-movie nights.

Will this strategy work? Will we see Windows 7 sales increase after the
dedicated Family Guy show airs? People love Family Guy, myself included,
and people are interested in Windows 7, myself included. And let s not
forget that there s a pretty important incentive to buy Windows 7 right
now. I ll call it Windows Vista! Everyone, and I am sure you will agree,
will want to finally get rid of Vista and replace it with Windows 7.

Just a word of advice for when you will install Windows 7 next week, if
you think it looks like Vista, it s because it does! But it won t feel
like Vista! Right Stewie?

MS Windows 7 Slips Out Early New MS Windows 7 OS Snapped Up at College Bookstore, Duly Activated

Whilst the vast majority of us who are looking to get our hands on
Microsoft s newest operating system, Windows 7, are having to wait until
Win 7 s official release date of 22 October at least one user has
already managed to snap up a legitimate copy of Windows 7 and have
managed to activate it without issue.
The copy of Windows 7 in question is an education copy that was
seemingly offered up early at an (as yet unnamed) college bookstore and
who can blamed an eager eyed individual for stepping up to snap it up.
Of course this isn t the first time software has slipped out early due
to over eager of non-clued up store workers, nor will it be the last,
and we suspect that we ll be getting further reports of other copies
getting into consumer s hands early, but as it stands, this appears to
be the first to have slipped the net.

Any additional reports of legitimate copies of Windows 7 OS slipping out
early would be welcomed.

Xbox Live Twitter & Facebook Service Release Date Confirmed Xbox Facebook & Twitter Service Due in UK in November

On November 19th of last year Xbox Live subscribers got to feel the
�New Xbox Experience � and this November " specifically 19th November,
again " Xbox Live subscribers will see another update that ll bring
both Facebook and Twitter to the Xbox Live experience " though at this
juncture the release of both services is only confirmed for UK Xbox Live
members.

Just announced by the official UK Xbox website, the new Facebook and
Twitter Xbox services are detailed as offering a Friend Linker (allowing
you to invite Facebook friends to play on Xbox Live) as well as access
to friends' profiles whilst the Twitter service will offer read, reply
and post updates as well as access to subscribed tweets and, in terms of
what s on offer, that s just about it.

At this juncture there s no news concerning anything other than the UK
rollout of the Xbox Live Twitter and Facebook services but the moment we
get any further news we will, of course, offer you an update.
