compact cameras, Canon have today, in a spate of press releases, also
officially announced another two new PowerShot cameras - namely the
PowerShot A1100 IS and PowerShot A2100 IS, which serve to replace
Canon's PowerShot A1000 IS and A2000 IS respectively.
Powered by Canon's latest DIGIC 4 image processor, both Canon's
PowerShot A1100 IS and PowerShot A2100 IS compact cameras sport 12
megapixel sensors and come with 4x optical zoom with a 2.5 LCD display
and 6x optical zoom with 3. LCD display (A1100 IS and A2100
respectively). Both cameras also boast Canon's new Scene Detection
Technology as well as a newly updated Easy mode and new Smart Auto mode
- offering 18 possible modes - whilst additionally offering all the
usual features one would expect o compact point and shoot cameras: Face
Detection with face select and track as well as in-camera red eye
correction, Motion Detection, video capture capabilities (in VGA as
opposed to the 720p HD resolution offered by the aforementioned SD780 IS
and SD960 IS camera),full PictBridge support, etc.
Canon PowerShot A1100 IS Key Features:
12.1 Megapixel CCD
F2.7-5.6, 4X optical zoom lens, equivalent to 35 - 140 mm
Optical image stabilization
DIGIC 4 processor
2.5 LCD display with 115,000 pixels + optical viewfinder
Smart Auto mode + face detection / auto redeye reduction
Records up to an hour of VGA quality video
SD/SDHC/MMC/MMCplus/HC MMCplus slot (128MB card included)

F3.2-5.9, 6X optical zoom lens, equivalent to 36 - 216 mm
3-inch LCD display with 230,000 pixels (no optical viewfinder)
32MB memory card included
400 shots per charge using two NiMH AA batteries
Only comes in black
Canon's PowerShot A1100 IS is scheduled for a March release and will set
you back around $200 whilst the PowerShot A2100 IS will become available
in April for around $250.

Canon Power Shot A2100 IS is user friendly and very reasonable.The weight of the Camera is just 8.2 ounces. It is equipped with modern features. 12 mega pixel is very good. The image quality is good. For more details refer Canon Power Shot A2100 IS
Memory sure is becoming cheaper and cheaper and cheaper. I wonder when we will finally hit the rate of 1 cent to 1 Gigabyte.
I'm eagerly anticipating the day when I will finally be able to afford a 20 terabyte drive, lol. But for now I guess I will be happy with having a 16 GB Micro SD Card in my R4i.
