NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285 Single GPU Graphics Card

NVIDIA has launched the GeForce GTX 285 single GPU graphics card which
is based on the enhanced 55nm GT200B core. The GT200B core has also been
used in the GeForce GTX 295 card. NVIDIA claims that the GTX 285 is the
world’s fastest single GPU graphics card.

In appearance the GeForce GTX 285 is similar to its predecessor the GTX
280. However, there are certain differences in appearance between the
two. The back side of the PCB in the GTX 285 is left uncovered, the GTX
285 features longer ventilation holes that run for almost the entire
length of the bracket.

The GeForce GTX 285 can support a 3-way SLI configuration. It features
two SLI connectors at the top edge of the card. It has a dual-slot form
factor on a die-shrunk GPU.

Maximum board power has been reduced from 236 watts on the 280 to 183
watts on the 285. Also, the 285 does not need 8-pin feeds, it works with
a pair of 6-pin PCI Express power feeds.

The GeForce GTX 285 is expected to retail for pound sterling300 to pound
sterling320 or around $400.
