DXG-581V High-Definition Mini Camcorder

DXG introduced the DXG-581V pistol-grip mini HD camcorder at the CES in
January. The DXG-581V, which stands less than 4 inches tall and offers a
360-degree view with its 3-inch rotational TFT screen, is set for a Q1
2009 release and will cost $179.99.

It is targeted at youth who use camcorders for impromptu video shooting
and prefer an easy-to-use yet feature-rich video recorder that
facilitates social networking.

The DXG-581V offers video recording at 1920 x1080 resolution at 30
frames per second as well as 8MP still images. There is no information
on the capacity of the built-in flash memory but the SDHC card slot can
support up to 8GB or 8 hours of HD video.

The video editing software offered as a part of the purchase of the
camera is developed by ArcSoft, Inc. Sold separately the ArcSoft
TotalMedia Extreme software package retails at $119.99 and lets users
create, edit, and watch hi-def video. Overall, the DXG-581V is a simple,
easy to use camcorder with basic functions and available at a remarkably
low price.
