Philips WSXGA 22โ€ & 1080p HD 52โ€ 3D โ€Auto-Stereoscopicโ€ LCD Displays Set For Q4 Release [Philips WOWvx Technology 3D Displays]

Phillips have announced that their new 52' 1080p HD and 22' WSXGA
'Auto-Stereoscopic' 3D LCD displays, which utilise WOWvx technology to
add a sense of true depth to 2D imagery, are not only set to be
displayed as InfoComm later this month but will become available to
consumers in the latter quarter of this year for an as yet unknown price
point.Employing WOWvx technology, which, according to the press release
'uses the 2D-plus-Depth format including declipse, which gives
additional occlusion information for a real 3D 'look around' effect'
(without, we should add, the need to wear special glasses), the new 52'
3D LCD display offers 1080p HD 1920×1080 resolution, 700 cd/m2
brightness, a not unimpressive 2000:1 contrast ratio and 8ms response
time whilst the 22' 16:10 aspect ratio LCD, which sports WSXGA
(1680×1050) resolution offers 300cd/m2 brightness, half the
contrast ration of the 52' model (1000:1) but a faster response time of
a mere 5ms.Both models will, as indicated above, be displayed at
InfoComm, taking place from June 18 to 20 in Las Vegas and, should you
be in the general vicinity you'll need to head to Philips's 3D Solutions
booth C1519 based in Central Hall 1.The moment we have more detailed
specifications and a somewhat less general release date (rather than
merely Q4) and the all important price tags we will, of course, offer a
heads up here on TFTS.
