viewing Excel spreadsheets using Apple's iPhone is by no means a
revelation the emphasis has very much been on merely viewing as opposed
to editing, but now, thanks to Mariner Software's up and coming Mariner
Calc iPhone 2.0 application, at last you'll also be able to edit
spreadsheets as well as peruse them (a bonus for people such as myself
who, for some odd reason, feels compelled to log just about everything
in one of numerous Excel spreadsheets).
According to the president of Mariner Software, Michael Way, the
application's coding is around 80%-90% completed and, of the few details
release concerning the application's capabilities it's already sounding
particularly impressive in not only offering viewing and editing of
Excel spreadsheets in their native file format (i.e., no file conversion
is required in order for .xls files to be displayed and manipulated) but
also catering for spreadsheets spanning up to 10,000 rows and 32,000
columns. Moreover, as well as supporting multiple sheets, Mariner Calc
for the iPhone 2.0 will also cater for charting as well as provide full
object support.
No word as yet concerning when the Mariner Calc iPhone 2.0 application
will become available (though it has been confirmed that it will retail
via Apple's Application Store).
