New Apple iPhone to Run on Qualcomm Processors GSM/CDMA iPhone to Run on Qualcomm's New Hybrid Processors

Although working intensively with phone manufacturers HTC, Samsung and
LG, chip maker Qualcomm are trying to expand their market share in the
high-end sector. Aiming for more future collaborations, according to
market sources the company has been in talks w
ith Apple to better the new iPhone which is supposedly going to use
Qualcomm's 3G solutions.
Coming from the Taiwanese trade publication Digi Times (see link at the
end of the article), the rumor is yet to confirm, but given the fact
that none of the popular smartphones, which include the iPhone, RIM's
BlackBerry or Palm's Pre, work on Qualcomm processors, but on Infineon,
Freescale andย respectively Marvell hardware, it certainly makes sense.
If rumors turn out to be true, the CDMA/GSM iPhone should be working on
a new hybrid chip that would bring both AT T and Verizon Wireless
compatibility — something that would probably propelthe iPhone
even higher in the ranks. And with more and more reports suggesting that
Big Red is going to get the iPhone next year, a Qualcomm-powered iPhone
may not be that far away.
