O2 Germany to Launch Nokia Booklet 3G To Arrive on October 22 for โ ฌ249 with a 2-year Contract; โ ฌ20 per Month Data Plan Required

Just a few days ago I was telling you how Nokia s first netbook, the
Booklet 3G, will be a Best Buy exclusive in the USA for now as no
carrier has decided to subsidize it yet. That is clearly not the case in
Europe. In fact, German customers will be able to get the Booklet 3G
from O2 in a couple of weeks.

O2 Germany will launch the Nokia Booklet 3G on October 22. The computer
is bundled with a data plan and thus you ll be able to get it at for a
much cheaper price. Sure you ll have to move to Germany first and then
go ahead and purchase it, but once you ve done that you re in the clear.

If you are in Germany however, then you should have all the pricing
details just so you can make an informed decision. The Booklet 3G will
be available for โEUR249, or about $365 if you decide to sign up for a
new two-year O2 data plan worth โEUR20, or about $29, per month. If my
math is correct then you would end up paying โEUR729, or about $941,
for the netbook over two years and you ll also have a data plan ready to
let you browse the Internet at any time as long as you re within range
of an O2 cell phone tower.

We didn t have pricing information before for the Booklet 3G offered by
Best Buy but now we do! You ll have to pay $600 outright for the netbook
and I am pretty sure you re not going to get any decent data plan for
the remainder $341 over the next two years in order to match O2 s offer.
In other words it would look like O2 Germany has a much better deal than
Best Buy. But then again I might be wrong and U.S. carriers will start
loving this little computer all of a sudden.

We re still waiting for O2 to officially announce all this. Rumor has it
there will also be a โEUR25 data plan version which means that you
might get the Booklet 3G for under โEUR150 but that s just speculation
at this point. We will let O2 make all the appropriate calculations and
return with the final results in the following weeks.
