Dell Adamo XPS, Thinner Than Ever, Officially Announced Laptop Not Available Yet; MacBook Air Cries in a Corner

Apple s MacBook Air is not the thinnest of them all anymore ladies and
gentlemen. There s a new thinner laptop ready to enter your life, the
Dell Adamo XPS. But do we really want to pay a premium price for a
laptop that s riding on Microsoft s Windows OS? Wouldn t we be way
better off with a slim laptop running Mac OS X?

Dell has gone ahead and properly revealed the next Adamo. We knew it was
coming but we had no idea it was going to be even slimmer than slim. The
Dell Adamo XP is only 9.99 mm thick, a number that would make the Air
cry in a corner. Although that would never happen since tears would ruin
its components!

Let s get back to the Dell Adamo XP, before we get sidetracked in a
fantasy world, and notice how the company failed to tell us when the
laptop is actually coming (the press release is just about as slim as
the laptop.) We d love to see some prices too considering that Christmas
is almost upon us and the Dell looks like a great gift idea, even if you
re buying it for yourself. In fact the unit you see here might just be a
concept laptop.
There s no indication that Dell will deliver it to the masses at any
time in the future. One of the obvious problems is the battery. I d hate
to play with such a toy if it wouldn t come with a more than decent
battery. After all, thickness is a feature I seldom look in a laptop and
I would gladly write these lines from any computer as long as I don t
get annoyed with battery or OS hiccups. Not only does the battery have
to be efficient, but it also has to fit inside that casing. And that s
certainly an impressive challenge for the laptop maker.

But if Dell does manage to squeeze a good battery inside and if Windows
7 proves to be a lot more stable than its previous crippled brother then
this 13-inch Adamo XPS will be a great tool to consider buying.
Especially if you travel a lot and have to work in crowded spaces where
carrying a slim but very powerful computer will definitely matter. Did I
just describe a person that could very well use a tablet instead of an
ultraslim ultraportable computer? Come January 2010 we ll find out more
about tablets and whether it is good or not to get one.
