more and more tablets pop up in the following months. Today we have the
WebStation, a 7-inch Android tablet PC announced by Camangi, under the
scope.
What s a little strange about this official launch is that although
Camangi issued a press release describing the new product, the official
site has gone down and it hasn't come back up again. The device in the
picture above is not the WebStation, but we're working on getting you a
better picture of it. Has Camangi announced the WebStation ahead of time?
So let s proceed to features and details. After all, whether by accident
or not, the WebStation has been officially unveiled. Here s what we can
expect from this Android Internet tablet:
7-inch resistive touchscreen display
WVGA 800 x 400 resolution
Marvell 624MHz PXA303 processor
802.11b/g Wi-Fi
Bluetooth 2.0
USB 2.0 port
2-megapixel camera on the back for pictures
0.3-megapixel front camera for video calls
400mAh battery
Android 1.5 OS
Dimensions: 4.7 x 7.9 x 0.53 inch (2mm thicker than the iPhone)
Weight: 350g.
The WebStation will let you browse the Internet and enjoy your favorite
videos while you re on the move. But the tablet will conveniently act as
a digital photo frame or eBook reader too if that s what you need. What
s impressive is that this tablet is probably one of the few netbook-like
devices capable of running Android OS. Just think of it like a much
bigger smartphone capable to offering you the same mobile experience.
Similar gadgets will probably run Chrome OS by the same time next year
but in the mean time Android will have simply have to do.
Camangi is going to make the device available at some point in late
November, just in time for the holidays. The company did not specify any
pricing details but since the tablet could be bundled with a 3G
broadband data plan by interested carriers, we can assume it will be
quite affordable for the masses. The WebStation is supposed to be a
simple Internet device that is sufficient to meet the general daily
usage of users which could be another indication that the tablet will
be available for a great price later this year.
