If you re looking to expand your home theater setup with a HD projector
then BenQ hope that you ll find yourself swayed by their newly announced
W-Series projectors which take in the BenQ 720p HD W600, 1080p HD W1000
and 1080p HD W6000, all of which utilise Texas Instruments DLP front
projection chips.
BenQ W6000

The undoubted star of the show is the BenQ W6000 which, apart touting
10-bit processing and offering Full HD output at 24fpsw can additionally
upscale 480p signals to HD quality whilst also boasting 50,000:1
contrast ratio, 2,500 ANSI brightness and 1.5:1 zoom ratio with the
capability to output 2.35:1 aspect ratio courtesy of a Panamorph lens
(though you ll have to purchase it separately).

Other notable highlights concerning the W6000, which weighs in at 6.7kg
and measures in at 428 x 156 x 345mm, include integrated BrilliantColor
and DynamicBlack processing technology, a somewhat impressive 1.07
billion color palette, and, in terms of connectivity, a host of outputs
including dual HDMI (v1.3), 1 x Analog RGB (D-sub 15), 3 x Component
Video as well as S-Video and Composite Video ports.

BenQ W1000

The W1000, which also boasts Full HD capabilities, whilst also sporting
dual HDMI ports, comes with a somewhat less impressive 2,700:1 contrast
ratio and 1,800 ANSI lumens brightness whilst the W600, which doesn t
offer Full HD (you re looking at 720p here) offers 3,000:1 contrast
ratio and 2,000 ANSI lumens brightness.

BenQ W600

Of course the W1000 and W600 less impressive specifications are
reflected in the pricing with the W1000 coming in at around $1,590
whilst the W600 carries a price tag of around $794. Both the W1000 and
W600 projectors are set to become available from November. The rather
more impressive W6000, however, which should start shipping within the
next couple of weeks, will set you back a cool $3,970.
