their smartphones, things are about to change with the announcement of
the new BlackBerry Desktop Manager. Apparently Mac users who chose a
BlackBerry over an iPhone are going to be happier sometime in September
when the new BlackBerry Desktop Manager is expected to launch with Mac
OS 10.5.5 (and above) support.
When the final date arrives, we'd be looking at iTunes sync for
playlists, calendars, contacts, notes and tasks, allows to manage
multiple devices, adds and remover applications. Other than these, the
new BlackBerry Desktop Manager also firmware updates for your smartphone
when new software is available, brings in new security features that
automatically schedule backups, restores and does optional encryption
for your handset.
RIM's attempt to keep BlackBerry-owning Mac users from switching to an
iPhone sounds like a good solution, but it's going to be pretty
interesting to see Apple's response given the fact that they don't love
the Palm Pre anymore.
