solid state drives, namely the Super Talent UltraDrive ME SSD and
UltraDrive LE SSD, and now by way of making them a more attractive
proposition, Super Talent are offering update firmware update for
Windows 7 which serves to boost the data transfer speeds of both SSD units.
Admittedly the chances are that few people who have splashed out for
these drive are currently running Windows 7 (Beta), but in a move that's
very much looking forward to the future its good to know that it you
cough up for one of these SSDs now and invest in Windows 7 later (when
its gone gold) you can look forward to fairly reasonable hikes in read
and write speeds.
So, what sort of speed increases can you expect? How does up to a 25%
increase grab you - with even the lesser priced UltraDrive ME seeing
read speeds up from 200MB/sec to 260MB/sec and write speeds up from
160MB/s to 200MB/s?
Nice.
