Blue series which offer 15.6 and 17.3 16:9 HD CineCrystal LED-Backlit
widescreen displays paired with integrated Dolby surround sound audio
capabilities, the combination of which are designed specifically to
offer an enriched multimedia experience.
The new Gemstone Blue Acer Aspire notebooks are powered by 2.1GHz AMD
Athlon 64 X2 and 2.0GHz Intel Pentium T4200 CPUs (15.6 Aspire AS5536
and 17.3 Aspire AS7735Z respectively) and come with 3Gb and 4GB DDR3
memory, multi-gesture touchpads, built in 802.11b/g/Draft-N Wi-Fi
wireless connectivity and 8X DVD-Super Multi Double-Layer optical drives
and, naturally, you can also factor in an integrated Acer Crystal Eye
webcam and embedded microphone allowing for voice and video VoIP
communications as well as Acer's PowerSmart technology to help reduce
power consumption and thus extend battery life.
In terms of storage capacity, the new Acer Aspire Gemstone Blue
notebooks come with 320GB and 250GB capacity HDDs whilst, from a
graphics perspective, you're looking at either ATI Radeon HD 3200 or
Intel 4500MHD GPUs (the latter shipping in the 17.3 model which,
considering its price point, is rather disappointing).
Both the 15.6 Aspire AS5536 and the 17.3 Aspire AS7735Z have just been
made available and will set you back around $480 and $600 respectively.
