Philips Intro 8000 & 9000 Series Net TV HDTVs TVs with Integrated Internet Access

Along with furnishing more detail concerning their 52 Cinema 21:9 LCD
TV, Philips have also confirmed that, along with the Cinema 21:9 its
8000 and 9000 Series HDTVs are to be Net TV enabled devices - allowing
internet access directly from the TV using the television's remote.

Sites such as You Tube, Tom Tom and eBay are already confirmed as
offering a service specifically catering for Net TVs - in essence
offering TV optimised browsing functionality including revised layouts
and larger text that can be read easily at greater distances (such as
those between your couch and your existing TV).

Whilst details are rather on the sparse side at the time of writing
concerning the new Net TV enabled 8000 and 9000 Series HDTVs, it is
reported that the 8000 Series will rely on a wired connection to access
the internet whilst the 9000 series (like the aforementioned Cinema
21:9) will come with Wi-Fi connectivity.

Philips Net TV service is expected to commence as of April in Europe.
