O2 iPhone 3G Price Cut Ahead of New 3rd Gen Apple Handset (iPhone Nano?) Apple Rumours

According to rumours presently circulating the net, O2 are apparently
poised to reduce the price of the iPhone 3G in order to clear its stocks
ahead of a new (much speculated upon) 3rd Gen iPhone rumoured to be set
for release sometime in July.

Whilst we should stress that the rumour remains wholly unsubstantiated
at this juncture, either by Apple or, for that matter, O2, we would not
wholly rule out the rumour transpiring to be well grounded as Apple are
widely speculated to have a somewhat more compact handset, tentatively
referred to as the iPhone Nano, waiting in the wings though, once again,
Apple have not acted to either confirm or deny the existence of such a
device. But, being that Apple have a reputation for playing such matters
extremely close to their chests (we remember all the speculation leading
up to both the original and 3G variants of the iPhone) we would not
dismiss the rumour out of hand.

Interestingly, certainly for UK consumers, its also being reported that
the new iPhone (or iPhone Nano if you prefer) will not just be
restricted to the O2 network in the UK, as has been the case with both
variants of the iPhone to date, but may (repeat, may) also be carried by
Orange.

Truth or fiction or perhaps just wishful thinking? If you ask us which
side of the fence we're sitting on we'd say that its highly likely that
the above rumours indeed ring true - though, of course, only time will tell.
