but we have to say that, on initial inspection at least, it's hard not
to be impressed by the Gemei HD-660 portable media player and in
particular the scope of features it offers for the equivalent of a mere $88.
Built around a 4.3 16:9 aspect ratio 480 x 272 display, the Gemei
HD-660 will, as you'd expect, happily play ball with a host of audio and
video file formats (specifically MP3, WMA, APE, FLAC, RM, RMVB, AVI,
FLV) as well as naturally supporting JPG, BMP and PNG files whilst also
offering an integrated FM radio tuner with recording capabilities. But
where the Gemei HD-660 really stands out is its ability to play 720p HD
quality video on suitable external displays via a supplied video cable
whilst, in terms of endurance, the Gemei HD-660 hardly under whelms with
its 2,000mA lithium-ion battery life offering up to a purported 15 hours
of audio or 6 hours of video playback (not magnificent, certainly, but
we've seen a great deal worse offered by PMPs that will set you back
significantly more).
Additionally, apart from sporting USB 2.0 connectivity allowing the
Gemei HD-660 to be hooked up to both Windows and Mac based systems, you
can also factor in a remote control, a footprint of a mere 123 x 76 x
15mm and TF memory card support.
Agreed, the Gemei HD-660's features are hardly cutting edge, but for $88
few would argue that, in terms of bang for buck, it's hard to fault this
particular PMP - however much one might like to.
