4770 Graphics Card which, apart from being ATI's first desktop graphics
card to utilise a 40 nanometer manufacturing process, promises
considerable bang for your buck with pricing starting at around a mere $99.
Billed as offering an 'impressive cinema-quality home entertainment
experience', the ATI Radeon HD 4770 boasts second generation AMD Unified
Video Decoder (UVD 2.0) technology, HDMI connectivity, full DirectX 10.1
support as well as picture-in-picture (PiP), HD upscaling and 7.1
surround sound HD audio processing on-board and, if you're looking for
more clout, the HD 4770 naturally supports ATI CrossFireX technology
allowing you to hook up a secondary card for what ATI term as 'a
near-linear increase in performance'.
Consumer pressure in this economic downturn is shifting demand to
lower prices and the price band around $100 has the highest demand and
highest volume, said Rick Bergman, senior vice president and general
manager, Graphics Products Group, AMD who introduced the ATI Radeon HD
4770. AMD has responded with the launch of the ATI Radeon HD 4770,
targeting this market with cutting-edge technologies like 40 nm
processors, support for DirectX 10.1 gaming and GDDR5 memory. This
strategy stands in stark contrast to the old 'trickle down' technology
approach some still use to address this important segment.
There's no word from ATI concerning specific availability at this
juncture, but if you're looking for a budget graphics card that, whilst
being light on the pocket boasts an impressive array of features both in
terms of gaming and HD entertainment, the ATI Radeon HD 4770 undoubtedly
warrants further investigation.
