Allio HDTV PC units and now, just three months down the line, Silicon
Mountain have updated the range in employing a 1.6GHz Dual Core Atom 330
CPU as opposed to the Intel Core 2 Duo CPU utilised in the
aforementioned HDTC PC models.
Billed as a ‘low-cost converged multimedia experience that brings
a whole new generation in HDTV and internet entertainment to the living
room’, the new Silicon Mountain Allio Lite LCD HDTV PCs, which
appear indistinguishable from the previously released Intel Core 2 Duo
powered units, come in 32″ and 42″ flavours offering 1080p
and 720p HD resolutions respectively and retain the same 250GB
integrated hard drives and 2GB RAM as their predecessors whilst also
packing in a DVD/CD reader/writer - though it does seem, perhaps, a
little short-sighted for the company no to appear to be offering a
Blu-ray equipped Allio Lite (we assume its to keep costs down as much as
possible, but an option would have been welcomed).
Running Windows Vista Home Premium, the new Silicon Mountain Allio Lite
HDTV PCs, which have just become available directly from the official
aqllioTV site as well as Amazon (linked below), TigerDirect and
Visionman will set you back just shy of $1600 and $1300 for the 1080p
42″ and 720p 32″ units respectively.
