new Dell Inspiron 15 which comes with a 15.6' 16:9 aspect ratio 1366 x
768 resolution widescreen as well as integrated facial recognition
security - courtesy to the Inspiron 15's built-in webcam - and which
Dell are billing as being a 'multi-purpose system, well configured for
entertainment, productivity and connectivity'.
The Dell Inspiron 15, as with all Dell offerings, comes with a range of
configuration options (specifically three) offering a range of
processors - namely 2.3GHz Intel Celeron 560, 2.0GHz Pentium Dual Core
T4200, 2.0GHz Core 2 Duo T6400 as well as Core 2 Duo 580, T8100 and
T8300- as well as between 1GB and 4GB of RAM (though the fact that the
Inspiron 15 is bundled with the Vista OS makes the 1GB option somewhat
incredulous) as well as 120GB, 250GB and 320GB capacity SATA 5400rpm
hard disks.
Each model in the range comes with DVD+/-RW drive with an option on a
Blu-Ray drive, Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 graphics (no
optional upgrades here, unfortunately) and the aforementioned facial
recognition security, the previously mentioned webcam and are available
in a range of 'trendy' colors such as Midnight Blue, Spring Green,
Espresso Brown, Ruby Red and, of course, Flamingo Pink - though you can
also opt for patterned finishes if you want to live under the illusion
that doing so will somehow make you more of an individual.
The Dell Inspiron 15 laptop range starts at around $600.
