the 22-inch G2210 and the 24-inch G2410 stress eco-friendliness as their
USP. The monitors are EPEAT Gold and ENERGY STAR compliant. Their
construction includes recycled materials used in the external chassis
and environmentally preferable materials used instead of harmful
materials such as PVC, BFR, CFR, arsenic and mercury.
Dell claims several advantages over competing models, such as energy
consumption reduced by half; a dynamic contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1;
the models are 20% slimmer and 28% lighter than comparable models.
The two monitors consume less than 0.15W of power in sleep mode and none
is drawn from the host computer. AN ambient light sensor automatically
adjusts brightness depending upon surrounding brightness. A dynamic
dimming feature allows the monitors to decrease onscreen brightness when
the image is primarily black and white.
The G2210 offers a maximum resolution of 1680 x 1050 and has a typical
power consumption of 18W. Corresponding figures for the G2410 are 1920 x
1080 full HD and 20W.
The two models will be available late February with the G2210 starting
at $279 and the G2410 starting at $359.
