Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi HS-1100 Tournament Gaming Headset

If you're looking for a headset specifically catering for maximum gaming
emersion you may be interested in Creative's up and coming Tournament
Gaming Headset which is Creative's first USB headset to feature their
Sound Blaster X-Fi and Silencer technology.

The Creative HS-1100 Tournament Gaming Headset comes with dual
integrated microphones that, thanks to employing Creative's Silencer
active noise cancelling technology, promises clear speech transmission
freed of ambient noise whilst Sound Blaster X-Fi processing offers 3D
positional surround sound allowing you to hone in on your enemies with
deathly precision using audio cues (such as their footfalls, etc) where
available. An additional feature known as Voice FX is also available
which can be used, according to Creative, to 'personalize your online
persona' by (for example) 'impersonating a woman or an old man' - rather
tacky, really, but probably good fun for all of two minutes though it
does strike us that this could prove handy for dodgy types who have
dubious intentions and who are seeking to hide their identities.

Boasting 40mm Neodymium magnet driver unites, the Creative HS-1100
Tournament Gaming Headset offers a frequency response of 20Hz - 20kHz
whilst the dual microphones offer 80Hz-16kHz (which used with boom) and
in terms of cable length you're looking at 2.5m.

The Creative HS-1100 Tournament Gaming Headset is set for release in
Singapore sometime in April and will retail for the equivalent of a $239
which strikes us as being rather overpriced considering headsets such as
Logitech's G35 come in at just $99. Quite whether the technology on
offer is worth the premium is, of course, down to personal taste, however.
