simply to free up space, then this external hard drive unit from
Apricorn, known as the Apricorn DVR Xpander, could be exactly what you
require in offering additional recording capacity to the tune of up to
1.5TB.

Compatible with DVRs such as the TiVo Series 3 and the Scientific
Atlanta 8300 - though it should, according to Apricorn,ย play ball with
any DVR unit sporting a eSATA port - the 500GB Apricorn DVR Xpander will
add sufficient extra recording capacity to allow for up to an extra 281
hours of standard definition programming, or up to 62 hours of high-def
recording whilst the highest capacity model, offering 1.5TB of
additional capacity, offers up to 843 hours and 187 hours of additional
recording capacity (standard and high definition respectively). A lower
capacity 250GB Apricorn DVR Xpander is also available offering, as one
would readily assume, around half the extra recording capacity of the
500GB model detailed above.

Offering 'whisper quiet' operation and utilising 3.5' 7200rpm SATA HDDs,
the Apricorn DVR Xpander retails from $129 for the 250GB version and
$199 for the 500GB model through to just shy of $240 for the largest
capacity 1.5TB variant.
