unveiling of their new, flagship Prestigo SRT9320 universal remote which
comes complete with a 2.8' LCD touchscreen as well as physical buttons.
The new Philips Prestigo SRT9320, which is aimed specifically at those
with comprehensive home theater setups, is capable of controlling up to
twenty devices courtesy of both pre-loaded multi-device macros and the
Prestigo SRT9320's learning modes though, at the time of writing, quite
how many devices the SRT9320 is pre-programmed to play ball with has not
been detailed (though its safe to safe the list will be especially
comprehensive). Indeed Philips claim that their SRT9320 is so easy to
program that you'll not need to resort to using a PC to teach the device
new control macros. Interestingly, however, despite the Prestigo
SRT9320's flagship status, it's curiously lacking some features one
would otherwise expect of such high-end universal remotes - such as RF
control and (especially perplexing considering its price) even a
charging cradle.
Coming with an integrated USB port, allowing you to upload new control
codes to the SRT9320 from the net as and when they become available, the
Philips Prestigo SRT9320 LCD Touchscreen Universal Remote is set to
become available sometime in the first quarter of '09 and will set you
back around $250.
