Nintendo Wii to Gain Full SD Card Storage Capabilities [Wii Storage Update Pending – SD not HDD]

It's long since been an issue and now it would appear that Nintendo are
planning to respond, to some degree, to customer (and developer)
feedback in offering an update that will allow Wii game software to not
only be loaded directly from SD memory cards but also downloaded
directly to SD cards loaded in the Wii's SD slot.Falling far short of
the external HDD that many have, for some time, been tentatively waiting
for, the new ability for the Wii console to fully utilise SD cards
(allowing for up to 2GB of 'bolt on' capacity) will doubtless be broadly
welcomed not least because the Wii's internal memory capacity is so
extremely meagre. We also don't doubt that High Voltage, in particular,
will welcome the update - which is purportedly due sometime in Spring
2009 - with particular reference to their proprietary Quantum3 graphics
engine which will, as we understand it, be more than happy to utilise
the additional storage space on a console that is severely limited by a
paltry degree of usable read/write memory though to what extent SD cards
will function as 'bolt on' RAM remains open to speculation.
