proudly bill as being the 'World's smallest desktop PCs with HD
capability' thanks to offering hardware accelerated HD content courtesy
of an integrated discrete graphics card with integrated hardware video
decoder - specifically an ATI Radeon HD 3400 series with 256MB DDR2
memory - paired with HDMI output allowing the new Eee Box B204 and B206
to deliver HD quality content to any HD compatible device such as LCD
displays, HD projectors and high-def digital home entertainment systems.
Both the Asus Eee Box B204 and Eee Box B206 come with 1.6GHz Atom N270
CPUs under the hood, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, 802.11n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth
connectivity (as well as 10/100/1000Mbps LAN), Realtek onboard sound,
5,400rpm 160GB SATAII HDDs, and, as well as the aforementioned HDMI
output also offer DVI-D and audio (with S/PDIF out) ports and, of
course, the obligatory SD/SDHC/MS/MS Pro/MMC memory card reader.
Described as being 'as slim as paperback novels', the Bee Box B204 and
B206 - which run Windows XP Home - are, Asus are at pains to point out,
manufactured according to 'stringent Green ASUS guidelines' resulting in
compliance with RoHS and WEEE standards whilst, in operation, consume a
mere 20W hence 'reducing the user's carbon footprint by up to 90% as
compared to full-sized desktop PCs'.
Asus are yet to release either pricing or availability details but we'll
endeavour to bring you an update the moment this info surfaces.
