Western Digital Now Shipping WD3000GLFS VelociRaptor 300GB SATA HDD speeds of up to 3GB/s, [WD’s ‘World’s Fastest SATA HDD’ Now Available]

Western Digital have announced that they have now become shipping their
new WD3000GLFS VelociRaptor 3.5'10,000 RPM 300GB 3Gb/s SATA hard disk
drive, claimed to be the world's fastest SATA drive delivering
performance up to 35% greater than previous generation Raptor drives,
which we initially posted about back in April.Priced at $387, WD's
WD3000GLFS VelociRaptor 300GB SATA HDD, apart from offering blisteringly
fast data transfer speeds of up to 3GB/s, comes with a 1.4 million MTBF
(Mean Time Before Failure) rating, RAFF (Rotary Acceleration Feed
Forward) technology serving to optimise drive performance whilst
compensating for vibration prone working environments and SecurePark
which serves to lift the read/write heads off the platters during spin
up/spin down for increased protection and drive reliability.
