couldn't pass up on offering a brief heads up concerning Toshiba having
officially announced their new Qosmio F50, G50 and X300 Quad Core
laptops which, Toshiba claim, are capable of not only delivering HD
quality movies that rival the quality offered by Blu-ray via standard
DVD optical disks (thanks to dedicating one of the four processors to
the task of processing the imagery) but which also offer gesture
control. If the prospect of pausing a movies by simply raising your hand
in front of the laptop, and resuming the playing with a cursory sweep of
the palm appeal to you - and it certainly appeals to us - Tobshiba's new
Quad Core HD Qosmio F50, G50 and X300 laptops are certainly worth
keeping tabs on though, at the time of writing, there's no word from
Toshiba concerning either unit availability or pricing.
We'll be watching developments closely once Toshiba's men in suits allow
these devices into the hands of impartial reviewers (and that's
certainly in mind of Toshiba's rather bold claims concerning delivering
better than Blu-ray quality film from standard DVD via dynamic upscaling).
