Kodak Motorola Motozine ZN5 Camera Cell Phone Officially Announced ZN5 Hi-Res Camera Phone Set To Square Up To C905 ‘Shiho’ Cyber-Shot

Kodak and Motorola have at last taken the wraps off their up and coming
Motozine ZN5 camera cell phone which brings both company's expertise in
digital imaging and handsets together resulting in a cell phone that
puts in a sterling performance as both a cell phone and a compact camera
- though the 5 megapixel sensor on offer is notably less than that
offered by Sony Ericsson's recently announced C905 'Shiho' Cyber-Shot
handset which sports 8.1 megapixel resolution image capture. The Motozine
ZN5 comes with auto focus, Xenon flash, 4x digital zoom and panorama
image stitching capabilities as well as Kodak Perfect Touch technology
post processing serving to enhance images colours and brightness and one
touch uploading of captures - via USB, WiFi or Bluetooth - to Kodak's
Gallery online application. Kodak's Easyshare software is also included
in the bundle. Thanks to the aforementioned Bluetooth connectivity,
images captured with the Motozine ZN5 can also be printed wirelessly
when the handset is paired with Bluetooth capable printers (such as
Kodak's All-in-One printers) as well as at Kodak Picture Kiosks.

As far as other functionality is concerned, the quad-band GSM/EDGE
Motozine ZN5 comes with CrystalTalk technology, dual compatibility for
GSM and Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN), support for SMS, MMS, IM and
personal e-mail, integrated FM tuner and Motorola's ModeShift technology
serving to adapt the ZN5's keypad according to the phone's mode of
operation.Due for release in China next month, the Motozine ZN5 is
expected to roll out internationally over the course of the year though
specific details concerning availability, the handset's release schedule
and unit pricing is not detailed in Kodak and Motorola's joint press
release.Personally, we cannot help but think that unit pricing is going
to be a key issue in terms of the ZN5's success (or demise) when you
take Sony Ericsson's recently announced 8.1MP C905 'Shiho' Cyber-Shot
handset (link offered above to our posting concerning the C905) into
consideration on the basis that, given a choice between the two, if we
were looking for a cell phone/compact point and shoot camera combo the
latter handset would win out hands down.
