iRiver Launch P10 Touchscreen Portable Media Player with Optional DMB +iRiver P.ple P10 PMP+

We have always held iRiver in extremely high esteem so the launch of a
new iRiver PMP, known as the iRiver P.ple P10, is certainly warmly
welcomed and, rarely ones to disappoint, their P10 touchscreen PMP
certainly not only looks the part but seems, on the face of it, to boast
an appeal that's more than merely skin deep.

Powered by an RMI AU1250 600MHz CPU running Win CE, The iRiver P.ple P10
boasts a 4.3' touchscreen 1.6M colour TFT LCD boasting an impressive 800
x 480 resolution and, apart from offering all the functionality and file
support one would expect from a PMP (Flash, MPEG 1/2/4, WMA 7/8/9, XivD,
MP3, WAV) the P10 also supports OGG which, as regular readers will know,
we feel is a grossly under supported and undervalued format, as well as
FLAC and APE.

Naturally the P10, which comes with 33GB of inbuild (HDD based) storage
capacity will also display JPEG/BMP based digital photos, thus serving
as a portable digital album, and even allows some degree of editing
which, whilst we would rather edit imagery via a dedicated application
on our desktop, is certainly a nice addition. Voice memo and TCXT reader
capabilities are also on offer.

Further highlights include handwriting recognition, a stylus coming
bundled with the unit, and inbuilt English, Chinese and Japanese
dictionaries whilst integrated mobile TV functionality is also on offer
courtesy of a DMB model.

Just launched in Korea and aviliable in either white or sliver, at the
time of writing the standard iRiver P.ple P10 is retailing for around
$312 whilst the mobile TV capable P10 is priced at the equivalent of $390.
