Asus To Launch Eee PC 901 & New Eee PC 1000 At Computex [Asus Eee 10E Display Model Suspected]

Back on April 21st we reported that Asus may be looking to introduce a
new Eee PC with a larger 10' screen (see: Asus Eee Mini Notebook Range
To Get 'Uber Eee' with 10' Screen) and now it appears that Asus may well
be launching this new model, known as the Asus Eee PC 1000, along with
their new (non WiMAX) Asus Eee PC 901 at the up and coming Computex
2008 event to be held in Taipei, Taiwan.

Of course whether the new, previously undisclosed Asus Eee PC 1000 is,
as we suspect, the new model of the Eee mini notebook sporting a larger
10' display remains wholly unconfirmed but we would certainly be very
surprised if we were to be proved wrong - not least because a larger
screened Eee would serve to compete directly against the likes of MSI's
Wind (as well as socking to HP's Mini Note which boasts a mere 8.9' WXGA
display).

Asus Eee PC 1000 (?)

The existence of the new Asus Eee PC 1000 has only come to light
following Asus's invitation to a select few (not us, needless to say),
which states:

ASUS is looking forward to welcoming you during Computex 2008 in Taipei,
Taiwan, for the ASUS' 08 Computex Trilogy of launch events. We would
also like to specially extend an invitation to you to attend the
official global launch of the new Eee PC 901 and 1000 series.

We look forward to the first 'hands-on' reports concerning both the
highly anticipated Eee PC 901 and the Eee PC 1000 and to confirmation
that the latter is indeed the 10' display model we reported on some time
ago and, needless to say, we'll be offering a follow up here at TFTS the
moment further information becomes available.
