Asus To Cut Back Asus Eee PC Range [Asus Cost Cutting Amidst Price Rises]

Only a couple of days ago we reported that Asus are set to introduce
price hikes across its range of notebooks and netbooks - including its
ever popular Eee PC range of netbooks - and now, in a further bid to
ride out the economic gloom, Asus have announced that it will be
limiting the range of Eee PC’s available in a consolidation
exercise that will help reduce production costs as well as avoid
consumer confusion.

Personally, we have long since lost count of just how many variants of
Asus’s Eee PC netbooks are or have been made available to date but
at certain stages in the past its almost been a full time job trying to
keep on top of new Eee PC models so its hardly surprising that Asus have
admitted that its all become rather confusing for consumers looking to
avail themselves of an Eee PC whist having so many models to chose
between. Moreover, from a business perspective, consolidating the Eee PC
range undoubtedly just makes (all too common) sense.

There’s no word at the time of writing as to which models will be
phased out but it will be interesting to see to what extent the
resulting lower production costs will be passed along to the consumer to
offset the price hikes announced previously.
