Asus Price Increases Pending [Asus Eee PC Netbooks & Asus Notebooks See Hikes]

According to a report by ARN, Asus are set to increase the pricing
across its range of notebooks as well as across its entire Eee PC
netbook range from 1 March which will see the aforementioned products
gain price hikes of up to a not inconsiderable 20 percent.Further
information concerning the exact nature of Asus's intended price
increases are expected to be made public on 12 February during
Asus’s Q4 2009 financial meeting though the price rises should be
viewed as set in concrete as Asus has clearly stated that the
forthcoming price rises result directly from the cost of computer parts
and hikes in the costs associated with manufacturing
operations. It’s assumed that Asus will reserve the greatest price
hikes for its mid- and high-range notebooks whilst trying to keep the
prices of its Eee PC netbooks as unaffected as possible as the netbook
market is proving especially buoyant at the moment and any considerable
prices rises in this particular sector could result in potential
consumers looking elsewhere - which is obviously not in Asus's long term
interests. That said, we don't expect Asus's Eee PC range of netbooks to
be cushioned completely from the price hikes proposed - so if
you’re looking to avail yourself of a new Eee PC now might be the
time to take the plunge and fork out the cash.
