China Vasion MP4 Digital Media Player Boasts SRS WOW But Misses Out on All Important Wow Factor

Yes, our friends at China Vasion (I say friends though I dare say, with
our posts concerning their products in mind, China Vasion would probably
take issue with this) have added yet another product in their ever
increasing line up of cut price gadgetry in the form of this MP4 digital
media player which comes in 1GB, 2GB and 4GB flavours.

Sporting a 2' LCD 128 x 160 resolution TFT display and a thickness of a
mere 9mm, China Vasion's PMP supports MP4, AVI and WMV video formats as
well as MP1, MP2, MP3, WMA, ASF and WAV audio formats (so no bonus
points for supporting the OGG format) and comes complete with FM radio
tuner and audio recording capabilities thanks to the inbuilt speaker -
rated at a mere 10mW - being supplemented by on on-board mic.

Other notable features include e-book functionality (though, on a device
with such a diminutive screen size one, could argue that such
functionality is somewhat redundant), six equaliser settings, SRS WOW
post processing, inbuilt Mini SD card slot. So far so, (checks
thesaurus), rudimentary.

Billed as being 'the perfect item to show off to friends' (China Vasion
have obviously not met my friends) China Vasion's somewhat uninspiring
MP4 Digital Media Player comes complete with earphones, USB cord and
power adapter and retails for around $35 / $37 / $49 for the 1GB, 2GB
and 4GB models respectively which a series of staggered discounts being
offered for bulk purchases.

(By way of a footnote, though it would seem that we can never quite
resist having cheap shots at China Vasion’s products in actuality
we have a somewhat repressed (begrudging?) admiration for how they
manage to turn out low end gadgetry that, all said and done (and
let’s be honest here), is not actually badly priced for the level
of functionality they offer. Damn, the truth’s out.)
