Samsung Showcases the Slim R1 Multimedia Player

Folks at Samsung have just released a new personal media player that
boasts quite an extensive specs sheet. We're talking about the new
Samsung R1 multimedia player that is much smaller than Cowon's S9 as
well as Samsung's P1, which makes it the thinnest and lightest media
player with Div-X capability on the market.

Samsung R1 packs quite a punch in a small package. Weighing only 50
grams, it features a 2.6 inch touchscreen display (400 x 240 resolution)
with the company's TouchWiz user interface. More to it, according to
Samsung, the R1 is so thin and light that it can be carried around in a
wallet — which if true, sounds like a big achievement.

The R1 comes with either 8GB or 16GB built-in storage, plays Xvid, divx,
H.264, and WMV video files for video, and supports WMA, OGG, WAV, AAC,
and FLAC files. It uses Samsung's DNEs 3.0 sound engine for natural
audio processing and also features a Beat DJ feature that allows the
user to add their own voice and different effects to their favorite songs.
