Olympus SP800 Specifications & Features Leaked New Olympus Superzoom Boasts 30x Zoom, 720p HD Video Capture Support

Just prior to this year s PMA event detailed information concerning one
of Olympus s new cameras that s doubtless scheduled to make a PMA
appearance, namely the superzoom Olympus SP800, has already made it into
the public domain.
The Olympus SP800 superzoom, as can be seen from the leaked spec sheets
(in French) provided below, touts a 14.5 megapixel CCD, the
aforementioned 30x zoom lens (28-840mm 35mm effective) and, as with the
vast majority of cameras these days, HD video capture is of course
represented with the Olympus SP800 offering up 720p HD video recording
in QuickTime and Motion JPEG formats.
Other interesting facts that can be gained from the SP800 spec sheets
below include an 8fps burst mode which can ramp up to 10fps (though you
ll see the resolution bumped down to a mere 3MP), sensitivities from
64-6400 ISO, a total of 17 scene modes as well as what appears to be
panoramic and beauty shot functions, a number of processing styles (post
processing filters) taking in Pop Art, Fish Eye, Crayon.
Obviously at this juncture there s no official word from Olympus
concerning the SP800 superzoom but, based on what we ve seen, we ll be
keeping our ears to the ground on this one " not least because
superzooms show no signs of decreasing in popularity right now.
