Google Set to Fix Nexus One 3G Issues Nexus One 3G Fix Expected Next Week, But 3G Network Coverage & Performance Also Cited As A Potential Factor

We reported back at the beginning of
the month concerning a fair number of Nexus One owners reporting issues
with the Nexus One s 3G reception and now its been confirmed that
Google, HTC and T-Mobile are working on a fix with engineers apparently
having narrowed in on one particular (unnamed) issue that could affect
3G Nexus One reception in specific cases .
Our engineers have uncovered specific cases for which a software fix
should improve connectivity to 3G for some users, says a post on the
Nexus One support forums. We are testing this fix now, initial results
are positive, and if everything progresses as planned, we will provide
an over-the-air software update to your phone in the next week or so .
As stated above, no specific detail as to what this fix is, or what it
specifically addresses (hence giving an insight as to quite what s up)
has been provided and, interestingly, it would seem that though a fix is
confirmed as pending part of the problem could be users being on the
edge or outside of 3G coverage which a product fix cannot address.
Of course there are many on the support forums that would argue
otherwise (having tested 3G reception with alternative handsets when
experiencing difficulties with the Nexus One s 3G reception) so it ll be
interesting to see just how this fix goes down when it s (expected to be
offered) sometime next week – though a specific date has not yet
proven forthcoming.
Of course, we ll be keeping out eyes on the support forums and will
report back on user feedback once the aforementioned update is available.
