Toshiba Unveils New Satellite T100 Notebooks New Value Notebooks Feature 13-inch Display, AMD Processors, Sub-$500 Price

Toshiba has taken the covers off of two new notebooks in the Satellite
T100 series. The Satellite T100 has been Toshiba's value line, and the
two new computers (the T115 and T135) both fit in fine with their
relatives. They'll both start at below $500 for price.
The T115 has a screen size of 11.6-inch
es while the T135 has a screen size of 13.3-inches. Both of them will
come equipped with AMD dual-core processors. While Intel may be the
flashy choice and the more powerful at the high-end, AMD has some
quality offerings at the low-end market – which is probably why
Toshiba went with them.
You'll have your choice between AMD Athlon Neo or Turion Neo X2
processors. Likewise, you can opt into the Intel Pentium SU4100 which
will, Gizmodo reports, give you 9 hours of battery life. The displays
will support a 16:9 aspect ratio and the press release reminds you that
it will support 720p output , which is nothing special for a computer
monitor.
Other goodies of these two computers include HDMI-out, a 320GB hard
drive, and internal graphics via an ATI Radeon HD card. The touch pad
will recognize Multi-Touch commands. The notebooks will weigh either 3.5
or 3.9 pounds and while they won't compete with the MacBook Air on any
awards – Toshiba says they're both roughly an inch thick when closed.
The notebooks are now shipping, and start at the low, low price of $450.
These cheap notebooks are great for anybody who would want something
bigger than a netbook but can't afford a $1,000 Core i7-equipped mobile
monstrosity.
