LG GW990 Moorestown Smartphone to Debut in The Second Half of 2010 Widescreen LG GW990 to Pack Moorestown CPUs, Running Moblin OS

During the Intel keynote at this year's Consumer Electronics Show in Las
Vegas, LG have announced that the two companies have been working
together on an LG GW990 smartphone that packs Intel's new Moorestown
processor (a successors to the Menlow platform designed for mobile
Internet devices) and runs on their Moblin Linux-based open source OS.
Although we're used with electronics pulling more horsepower, yet
getting smaller, the LG GW990 takes a wild bet against the trend and
comes with a rather wide 4.8-inch touchscreen display. On top of that,
the GW990 brings WiFi, Bluetooth and 3G HSPA connectivity, has a
built-in aGPS, along with a digital compass and a 5-megapixel camera,
16GB of built in flash memory (and a microSD slot), 512MB RAM, 1020 x
480 screen resolutions and 720p output.
Regarding the new Moorestown processor, the LG GW990 is supposedly
capable of playing HD video and hints to some 3D gaming, as for the
Moblin user interface, you gotta love the three-pane view when in
landscape orientation that allows you to multi-task.
Computing is no longer confined to your computer " it s everywhere,
said Paul Otellini, Intel Corporation President and CEO, during his CES
keynote speech. Advances in connectivity, intuitive user interfaces,
immersive content and computer chip performance have allowed computing
to move into new areas. Computing moving into all manner of devices and
experiences all around us improves our personal productivity and enjoyment.
No word when the new LG GW990 is going to be released or how much it's
going to cost, but when released we'd like a word with it.
