BBC Confirm Free iPlayer Wii Channel for UK Wii Owners Dedicated Wii iPlayer Channel Available From Next Week

The BBC have now confirmed that they are set to offer their iPlayer
catch-up radio and television service on the Nintendo Wii console via a
dedicated iPlayer Wii channel which will be made available via the Wii s
online store for free from next week.
Of course Wii owners based in the UK are already able to access the BBC
s iPlayer service from the console now, and have been able to since
April of last year, however the service is un-optimised for viewing via
the Wii console and this is where the new Wii iPlayer channel is said to
come into its own in offering a faster, high quality and improved
viewing experience (much like the iPlayer service presently offered in
the UK to those with Sony s PS3).
The BBC s announcement follows the UK s Channel 4 having confirmed that
it will make entire programmes available, for free, via YouTube and, of
course, UK Xbox 360 owners gaining Sky access via the new Sky player.
The new BBC iPlayer Wii channel will be made available as a free
download via the Wii online store from Wednesday of next week (November
18th).
