The Secrets Behind the Making of the Motorola Droid Are Revealed What Did Motorola Do to Come Back Triumphant?

Believe it or not the Droid has impressed us a lot and we re not the
only one to praise it. Everyone is talking about the phone and many
people are really envious to see that only Verizon Wireless customers
are going to get it. But what lies behind Motorola s new found success?
What has Moto done in order to come back from the dead and reclaim its
rightful place among the top cell phone makers out there? What don t we
know?

There s only one answer for that. The company has hired Sanjay Jha as
co-chief executive in 2008 and he managed to pull off a miracle. Last
year Motorola was literally drowning. The company failed to launch any
hot phone and the expected financial losses materialized soon enough.
Mr. Jha, a former chip designer at Qualcomm who managed to go all the
way up to number 3 executive, has decided to take significant action.

What did he do that was so amazing? He reorganized Motorola s mobile
division. Dazzled by Rick Osterloch, a Motorola engineer working on
Android, Mr. Jha decided quickly that Android could be a winner
solution. He was not afraid to dump Symbian when he realized that Moto
wasn t going to launch an impressive Symbian phone soon. Then he was
literally forced to terminate any Windows Mobile plans as Microsoft kept
delaying the new OS. The only alternative left was for Motorola to rely
on Android. And it was a winner move! Mr. Osterloch and his team proved
to be the winner asset of Motorola.

While all this was happening, Verizon contacted Motorola and asked for
ideas for a long ball play for the fourth quarter of 2009. And Mr.
Jha delivered various prototypes. That s when the Sholes was chosen by
Verizon officials. Naturally Motorola has started to pick up the pace
and the phone was made. The Droid, that s what Verizon decided to call
it this spring after Verizon s CEO Lowell C. McAdam tested a prototype
unit, was to become one of the most successful Android phones to be made
so far.

The engineering team behind the Droid did a remarkable job at assembling
a phone capable of fighting the iPhone. And the fact that Motorola can
now fight against Apple is something that neither of us could have
predicted. Everyone expects to see Motorola cash in on the Droid and
Verizon is certainly happy to see all the buzz build around the device.
We re not going to go into specs and details of the Droid but we re
just going to applaud this story and Mr. Jha in particular. It looks
like all you need is vision and guts to pull a stunt like this. From now
on we will expect even hotter phones from Motorola! And maybe Sony
Ericsson should tune in and follow the link below. They certainly have a
thing or two to learn about getting back in the game!
