SANYO LP-XU106 4500 Lumen Projector World's Brightest Portable Projector, Corner Keystone Correction

There are a couple of things that reign supreme when it comes to
portable projectors, size and brightness. If they are too big to carry
around comfortable, most people won't bother to carry them around. If
they're not bright enough to broadcast a decent picture on the wall or
screen or wherever it is that you are projecting onto, it might as well
be an overpriced paperweight. Well, when it comes to portable
projectors, it would seem that SANYO of Japan has managed to eke out a
winner with the LP-XU106. Billed as the world's brightest sub-4-kg
projector, this little beauty (in white, of course) should definitely
make its mark within the category.
SANYO Electric Co., Ltd. announced today the release of their LP-XU106
mobile projector. The unit has the industry's highest brightness, 4,500
lumens, in the ultra portable classand sports some pretty nifty advanced
functions, such as the Corner Keystone Correction Function, and the Easy
Setup Function.
The SANYO LP-XU106 mobile projector uses a 275-W high-output lamp and a
new optical engine that uses advanced cooling technology so you can
safely run your projector without having it burst into flames. This is
more than we can say for some other devices. It's also incredibly
compact, weighing just 3.4 kg, and pretty easy to carry. This should
make it a good fit for most meeting locations. It features a high
contrast ratio of 1000:1 due mainly to the adoption of an inorganic LCD
panel for the optical engine.
The SANYO LP-XU106 mobile projector is also the first SANYO projector to
be equipped with a Corner Keystone Correction Function that virtually
eliminates the distorted trapezoidal screen image caused by projection
at an angle. From what I could gather, you basically tweak your
distorted image by adjusting the four corners using buttons on the main
unit or remote control. No more obtuse PowerPoint presentations. Oh, joy.
Some of the other features include a 1.6x zoom lens that allows for more
flexible placement and an Auto Keystone Correction function
automatically corrects vertical image distortion, after detecting the
slope of the projector. I'm not sure why you would need the manual
keystone correction buttons if it automatically does it for you, but
anyway…
SANYO's latest portable projector seems to be a powerful introduction
and a worthy competitor in a market where it's often hard to stand out
from the crowd. No word yet on pricing or when it will be available in
the States, but we do know that it should hit the streets of Japan
sometime this November 20th. If you want to see more info and all kinds
of cute graphics that explain how the Keystone Correction function works
(and who doesn't want to know that?) head on over to sanyo.com.
