OK, I admit it. I'm a sucker for anything that combines technology and a
way to keep my beer cold when I am out and about. I have reviewed
similar cooler/radios in the past and it would seem that they all fall
just short of providing a product that combines portability, durability,
and gadgetry in the right amounts. When I saw the Cooladio from Picnic
Plus I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical. The Cooladio is a
combination radio, backpack cooler, and solar power charger in one and
it just might be the perfect traveling companion.
The Cooladio solar cooler from Picnic Plus is a thermal foil-insulated
cooler and a solar-power docking station in one handy little unit. The
name, I can only assume, is some lame attempt at combining the words
radio and cooler. Let's try to ignore that for now, shall we? According
to the makers of the Cooladio, you can plug in anything that needs
charging or power – such as your cell phone or MP3 player –
and keep your food and drinks cold at the same time. The Cooladio also
sports a set of integrated speakers and a headphone jack.
Corny name aside, the Cooladio seems to be a great multi-function cooler
that would make a welcome addition to any campsite or tailgating party.
Not only can you listen to your tunes on its integrated speakers but you
can also do the environmentally conscious thing and make use of its
alternative energy solar panels to keep all of your gadgets juiced up.
Oh yeah, and did I mention that it'll keep your beers cold? You
canyou're your hands on your own Cooladio at www.sportsauthority.com for
$84.99.
