Samsung YP-R1 PMP Release Confirmed 16GB YP-R1 Available in UK this Month

Last month we brought you what were, at the time, breaking details
concerning the new Samsung YP-R1 PMP and now we can confirm further
release information for those living in the UK or Korea as the YP-R1 is
set to land in the UK at the end of this month whilst a Korean release
will follow next month.

For those uninitiated with the Samsung YP-R1 the device comes with a
2.72 400 x 240 resolution touchscreen and either 8GB or 16GB of
integrated storage capacity whist file format compatibility takes in
just about everything you'd expect from a portable media player along
with formats often bypassed such as FLAC and the still much underrated
and under supported OGG - though specifically being MP3, WMA, ACC, WAV,
ASF, MPEG-4, WMV, H.264, RMVB, DivX, Xvid , JPEG, BMP, PNG and GIF.

The Samsung YP-R1 also offers Bluetooth connectivity which, thanks to
support of A2DP will allow for use of wireless (Bluetooth) headphones
and TV-out is also in evidence allowing you to hook the YP-R1 up to a TV
to watch videos on a larger screen.

Whilst reports suggest that the Samsung YP-R1 portable media player is
set to hit Korea next month those of you who are UK based will be able
to get your hands on the 16GB variant of the YP-R1at the end of this
month via Play - who are currently accepting advanced orders with unit
pricing for the 16GB model in at just shy of 130GBP.

If Apple's PMPs are something that don't appeal and you're looking for a
portable media player that offers a wide array of file format support -
the likes of which Apple's devices simply cannot (and do not) compete
with - then the Samsung YP-R1 is going to prove hard to ignore.
