Nintendo Wii Speak Comes with ‘Non-Replaceable’ Code We Say: Think Carefully Prior To Purchase

Following on from our post concerning the availability of Nintendo's Wii
Speak microphone its come to light that that the package comes with a 16
character code without which you can forget accessing the Wii Speak
channel. Fair enough, you might say - but now factor in that Nintendo
make it abundantly clear in the small print that the code will not even
be replaced if lost meaning that, should you misplace the code, your Wii
Speak will be just as much use as a standard microphone (you can forget
accessing the Wii Speak channel without the code) and perhaps you may
reconsider purchasing Nintendo's latest Wii accessory.

Let us put this into perspective. Even though you will have forked out
your hard cash for the Wii Speak microphone, loose the code and its next
to useless and you might as well whistle in the wind when it comes to
trying to avail yourself of a replacement code. Loose your code, loose
access to the Wii Speak channel. Want access back? You'll have to buy a
new Wii Speak microphone. Simple. (Gee, thanks Nintendo).

Add into the equation that the code is of the 'one time use' variety
and, even though you paid out for your Wii Speak microphone should you
want to sell it you'll find few, if any takers - as the device's code
will have been activated and cannot be passed along to another user.

Crafty? Certainly. A reason to, perhaps, think twice before purchasing
the Wii Speak microphone? That's your call but we know which side of the
fence we're sitting on.

We would be very interested to hear your take on this. Will this affect
your otherwise potential purchasing of the Wii Speak microphone? Please,
let us know via out comment form at the bottom of this page.
