Yamaha YSP-5100 and YSP-4100 Digital Sound Projectors Get Priced, Shipping Dates Yamaha's New Soundbars Will Ship This Month

After an initial revealing last month, Yamaha has announced a shipping
date and pricing details for their new digital sound projectors.ย The
Yamaha YSP-5100 and YSP-4100 Digital Sound Projectors will ship this month
, starting at $1,899.95.
The Yamaha YSP-5100 and YSP-4100 Digital Sound Projectors are a pair of
sound bars intended as an alternative to multi-speaker surround sound
systems.ย The digital sound projectors feature 40 beam drivers behind
the speaker cover, with two subwoofers and a dedicated amplifier.ย The
Yamaha YSP-5100 also packs two tweeters into the mix, and the results
from either system are intended to replicate surround sound with just
one device.
Both of Yamaha's digital sound projectors include four 1080p-capable
HDMI inputs, a slew of audio decoding codecs and internal upscaling.ย
On the software end, these units also feature yAired , Yamaha's own
wireless protocol that allows this unit to wirelessly connect to an iPod
or iPhone in range for music playback.
Yamaha updated the news on the YSP-5100 and YSP-4100 Digital Sound
Projectors earlier today, noting that both units will begin shipping
this month.ย While the features on these units are attractive, the
price is not.ย The Yamaha YSP-5100 Digital Sound Projector will retail
for $2,199.95, while the YSP-4100 will be priced at $1,899.95.
