AT T has a brand new phone for us and this time it s coming from
Pantech. The Impact will be available starting this Sunday, November 22,
and it will cost $99.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate when purchased with a
new 2-year contract.
So what is the Impact exactly? It looks pretty interesting from where I
m standing and I wouldn t mind giving it a try. The Impact presents a
daring flip concept. On the outside you have a screen and a touchpad
that comes with feedback support. But the phone will open thanks to a
sideways flip and it will reveal a full QWERTY keyboard and a full color
display screen. Therefore the Impact can be turned into a gadget capable
of handling most of your communication needs. Hardcore texters will
certainly appreciate the extended keyboard which will let them send fast
SMS messages and emails.
The Impact has other impressive features like GPS and AT T Navigator
support, 3G connectivity, camera with video recording, full HTML
browser, music player and speakers. Sure it s not the smartphone that
will beat the iPhone or the Droid but the Impact is a great phone for
those people that need to be in constant touch with their friends and
family. The handset could be considered a Sidekick competitor if you
will. And considering the recent issues Sidekick users had, getting an
Impact right now doesn t sound like such a bad idea.
Here s what Jim Berridge, director of sales and marketing of Pantech
Wireless had to say about the Pantech Impact:
Our customers expect the very latest in trendsetting mobile phones from
Pantech, and Impact really delivers. By combing everyone s favorite
social and multimedia options, along with a new form factor which
features an interactive touchpad, Impact is a first for both Pantech and
AT T.
So what do you say folks? Are you going to buy an Instinct next week?
