Just a little earlier today we told you that both the Motorola Droid and
the HTC Droid Eris will be available from Verizon Stores on November 6.
And now we re going to show you the phone in its entire splendor. No
matter what your favorite phone is, you simply can t disregard the
Droid. The phone is one of the most remarkable Android handsets
available to date and it s definitely the Motorola flagship phone so far.
We re definitely not in Kansas anymore! The once popular RAZR phones
from Motorola are slowly replaced by smarter phones that happen to run
Google s OS. If the CLIQ is rather an entry-level Android phone, the
Droid is without a doubt the smartphone we were waiting for Motorola to
make. It took more than a year for Moto to come through and it certainly
did.
Even Apple should pay attention to all this. The signs are all there.
Android is growing rapidly and it might just become the number one
mobile OS on the long run. Sure the iPhone is very popular and it doesn
t have any true competitor right now. But phones like the Droid, the HTC
HD2 or the BlackBerry Storm 2 are closing in.
I was wrong when I thought the Pre or the Storm will be true iPhone
competitors but I don t think I can be that wrong with the Droid. I won
t jump to any conclusions yet as I ll be waiting to see how the Droid
will perform before I can declare it the true iPhone competitor. And let
s not forget that the BlackBerry Storm 2 is also in the house!
The phone will be available from Verizon Wireless starting with November
6. The price is $199.99 on condition that you get it with a new 2-year
contract. So what about the rest of the world? Well it looks like a GSM
version (picture below) of the phone has been spotted in Vietnam already
so carriers around the world should hurry and offer the device by the
end of the year.
The official press release bellow will confirm all of the specs and
features we ve shown you ever since details about the Droid started to
appear. So what do you say? Are you going to totally ditch the iPhone
for the Droid?
