iPhone and Android Dominate Smartphone Market (according to web traffic) Web Ad Firm AdMob Finds Most Smartphone Web Surfers Surf on iPhone or Android

According to data from AdMob, a mobile advertisingย company, 75% of
mobile phone web surfing was done from a iPhone or Android, with the
remaining 25% coming from BlackBerry, Window Mobile and Palm users. 50%
of the mobile web surfing done worldwide is done, on an Apple iPhone.
Ars Technica seems quick to blame this development on the smashing
success and brilliance of the iPhone and Google's Android, however,
there could be a simpler explination.
While the popularity of the iPhone and Android phones areย undeniable,
you must take into account that web surfing is a lot easier on these
devices. Plus, the iPhone and Android appeal more to casual tech users,
who might enjoy surfing the web on the device where a Windows Mobile,
Palm or RIM phone are more targeted to enterprise business users who may
spend more time e-mailing.
AdMob's data shows that the iPhone usage share took a shallow dive when
the Palm Pre was released, although Ars Technica speculates that this
was onlyย temporary. Although the data only shows web traffic, and isn't
a perfect bellweather of smartphone usage, it's a big one as smartphone
users are likely to use the internet on their devices.
